It is mainly used to produce polyvinyl acetate emulsions and polyvinyl alcohol. The principal use of these emulsions has been in adhesives, paints, textiles, and paper products.
It is also used in polymerized form for plastic masses, films and lacquers; in plastic film for food packaging. As modifier for food starch.
